Trailblazing the rugged west, the mountain men were a hardy, adventurous breed. During the late 1700's through the end of the fur trade era (around 1840), these bold Americans ventured into the massive expanse known as the Rocky Mountain Territories. In search of furred animals to trap and trade, as well as a solitary life away from an ever-growing civilization, the trails they chose were often harsh and unforgiving. But many of these men flourished living truly free lives, exploring our great American frontier.
